Unama’ki Economic Benefits Office: Is the result of a unique economic partnership between the five First Nation communities in Cape Breton (Unama’ki).  It has established a collaborative approach to economic development and takes a business approach to pursuing economic opportunities for Unama’ki. It also delivers the Unama’ki ASEP Training program to ensure local Mi’kmaq are prepared to be part of these new economic opportunities.

 

Job Description: You will provide support and guidance to existing and new businesses in the Unama’ki communities.  You will also promote business and business opportunities in Unama’ki and promote partnership opportunities. This is a one-year contract position.  Upon a successful review, this position may be renewed depending on continued funding. This position is expected to begin approximately Sept.13, 2010. This person will work out of the Unama’ki Economic Benefits Office, Membertou First Nation, NS, frequently working out of other Unama’ki communities. Salary will range from $40,000 to $50,000, depending on qualifications. 

 

This person should possess the following skills and experience:

 

·          Possess a business degree or equivalent business experience and knowledge.

·          Experience in preparing and analyzing business plans and in business management

·          Extensive knowledge of and experience in working with Unama’ki communities and Unama’ki businesses

·          Knowledge and experience with economic development agencies

·          Excellent oral and written communication skills

·          Self motivated and personable and works well as a team member

·          Excellent computer skills, especially MS Office Suite of applications, and Internet proficiency

·          Knowledge of Mi’kmaq language would be an asset.

Job Description: Responsible for maintaining all aspects of the Economic Benefits Office books and preparation of monthly financial checklists and supporting financial reports. This is a one-year contract position and upon a successful review, this position may be renewed depending on continued funding. This position is expected to begin approximately Sept.13, 2010. This person will work out of the Unama’ki Economic Benefits Office, Membertou First Nation, NS. Salary will range from $40,000 to $50,000, depending on qualifications.

·       Organized, eye for detail and one that can work under pressure to deliver reports in timely fashion

·       Knowledge of the Unama’ki communities and the Mi’kmaq language would be an asset.

PREP COOK

Experience in cutting vegetables, prepping chicken, cutting meats, cleaning and cooking pasta. Prepping fish rotation of stock

Able to follow instructions

Employee is responsible to assist in maintaining a high level of food quality and cleaning standards in a busy environment.

 

Successful candidate will be required to various work times including evenings and weekend.

JANITOR & LAUNDRY PERSONNEL

Position:              Casual (on call) includes weekends and evenings

 

Department:        Environmental Services

 

Salary Range:    According to Membertou’s Salary Scale

 

Primary Duties:

 

  • Reports to Director for Assigned Duties
  • Operates various types of cleaning equipment both mechanical and electrical, in order to remove soils, stains and other debris from assigned areas.
  • Performs special cleaning and furniture moving is required.
  • Use of chemicals and supplies according to department standards to ensure safety and efficiency.
  • Operates and maintains departmental equipment in a safe, orderly and efficient manner
  • Empty trash and garbage then disposes it into dumpster.
  • Any other related duties as required

 

Qualifications:

 

  • No previous experience required but would be an asset
  • Driver’s licence would also be asset
  • Must be reliable, able to work on your own or as a team
  • Willing and able to follow directions
  • Must be willing to work shift work as required
  • Must pass in a criminal record check
  • WHMIS training preferred
