Delayed Reopening After Holidays

Delayed Reopening After Holidays

Kwe Membertou,

With the increasing number of COVID-19 cases in our community this holiday season, we’re thinking of all those affected right now. We understand that due to the increased cases, we have many close contacts, and people who are isolating. Our original return to work date for the Membertou Band Office and Facilities was January 4, 2022, but after thoughtful consideration, Membertou will have a delayed opening of our offices/facilities until January 10, 2022.

The Membertou Band Office and associated facilities will remain closed, and those who can work from home can do so remotely. Open for operation will be the Membertou Market, Membertou Gaming Commission, and the Membertou Tobacco Shop.

Extending our opening by one week will hopefully help to move COVID-19 out of our community, and give people the necessary time to isolate, if impacted as a positive case or close contact of COVID-19. If you have specific questions about our delayed opening, please contact your manager directly for information.

In further efforts to identify and remove COVID-19 from Membertou, we are holding a community PCR testing clinic on Sunday January 2, 2022, at the Membertou Entertainment Centre from 10:30am-5pm. This site is open to all Membertou community and band members. Please wear your masks and practice distancing while attending the clinic.

Thank you to all who continue to follow protocols, and to those who are on the front lines of the pandemic. To those who are currently on the mend, we wish you a speedy recovery.

Take Care and Stay Safe, Membertou.

Wela’lioq,
Chief Terry
