16 May Five Active Cases of COVID-19 in Membertou, Two Recovered Cases
Membertou currently has five active cases of COVID-19 and two recovered cases. Three of the five cases are new today, and are linked to a close contact of an already confirmed case. Individuals are currently isolating. The two recovered cases have finished their isolation period.
Additionally, we have a positive case in one of our non-community member employees from the Membertou Chicken & Deli. This person is isolating, and the Chicken & Deli has been closed as a precautionary measure for deep-cleaning,
and staff will be tested.
If you are a family member or close contact of an individual who contracts COVID-19, please follow these steps:
1. Isolate immediately
2. Get COVID-19 tests (this includes anyone in your household who had contact with the positive individual)
3. Continue to isolate for 14 days
4. Follow all guidelines given by Membertou Health and Nova Scotia Public Health
Now is the time that we must work together, from a distance, to slow the spread of COVID-19 in the community. The virus cannot infect those that it does not meet. Stay home and only see those that live in your household. Membertou is
working to have all the necessary steps in place to protect our community, but ultimately it comes down to each of us, and our individual responsibility to care for one another, and follow all COVID-19 protocols a while longer.
To those who are dealing with the COVID-19 virus, we send wishes for a healthy and speedy recovery. Stay home & stay safe, Membertou.
Wela’lioq,
Chief Terry
