Dear Membertou Community & Employees,

The ongoing COVID-19 plan that we have put forth for the safety of our community will
remain. Nova Scotia remains in a State of Emergency, and so does our community.

On March 16, 2020, Membertou committed to paying employees for two additional pay
periods, which took us to April 3, 2020. Based on the actions we’ve been taking to carefully
review the financial impact that this will have on Membertou as a whole, we’ve had to make
some difficult decisions to do an employment lay-off period.

This was not a decision that was taken lightly, and we understand the value our employees
bring to our organization.

It is an unprecedented time for the world and our community. After providing two pay
periods for all employees, following our commercial closures, we must be financially
responsible to our community. Our managers are contacting staff who are affected by the
lay-offs. The layoff period will be effective April 10, 2020.

This a difficult time for many, and so we have put support in place through Membertou
Human Resources to support employees who may need help with their employment
insurance options moving forward.

Membertou’s Director of Human Resources, Troy Paul, can be contacted to provide support
for employment insurance an record of employment (R.O.E) documents.

Contact Troy and his team at: 902-564-6466 ext.: 2890.

We thank you for your cooperation and look forward to when we can return to work,
together.

Please take care, and stay at home.
